The project, with an estimated investment of 2.6 trillion Colombian pesos, around 740 million euros, combines payment for availability and income by explicit toll. In addition, the contract has a revenue mechanism guaranteed by the Administration.
152 kilometers, of which 95 are double lanes (two lanes for each direction) between Bucaramanga and Barrancabermeja. The infrastructure will have two tunnels (5.96 kilometers) and 34 new viaducts and bridges.
Lanes per Direction
It connects the departments of Antioquia and Santander to the Magdalena River (tansporte fluvial cargo) and is part of the communication corridor with Venezuela.

Ruta del Cacao highway participates in a social event to help displaced people from Venezuela.
Participation consisted of modifying the exclusionary discourse towards these vulnerable people and developing networks of cooperation with segments that play a fundamental role in integrating people. Participating organizations included the Colombian Red Cross, the Santander Responsible and Sustainable Network, the Industrial University of Santander School of Industrial and Business Studies and the Jaime Andrés Foundation.
